I hope nobody is planning on continuing the past few weekends' curses just for the heck of it, because I can tell you right now the police won't be tolerating innocent people getting involved in dangerous activity. I'm glad they're over, even if that stadium isn't gone yet. Nobody I know was hurt, right? I feel out of the loop, and that makes me nervous that something's going on that I don't know about.

[After leaving explicit notice that she wasn't to be contacted unless the City was about to be blown up, George had left the office yesterday with the full intention of relaxing at home, alone with Logan. Many people said that the six month mark was a time when you should judge whether a relationship is really going to continue or not, but it was easy for her to make that call. After that first night together she'd known that Logan was worth the effort.

So she sat curled up in a chair with a quilt and a cup of black tea and inhaled the distinctive smell of fall through the cracked-open window. A year ago she never would have seen herself like this, happy and comfortable, but here it was.]

If you were accosted by someone acting on my instructions the other day I apologize, but I was completely cursed. I wouldn't be that obvious do anything like that without good reason. The Police are here to serve the interests of the citizens, not themselves or the state. In an ideal world.

The amusement park seems nice, but I hope that everyone's on their guard to a certain extent because it is rare that the City gives something nice without also giving something horrible to go along with it. Disturbing, when you can't even trust an amusement park, isn't it? If you weren't cynical coming into this city, you certainly will be by the time you leave. If you leave.

Alright, so we've got a few jobs on the go right now. First of all, there's been rumour of headless bodies being found around the city, one or two at a time. Keep an eye out, but I haven't seen anything conclusive yet.

As you've most likely noticed, Blitza Airflyer was killed in a vigilante attack by a man going under the name and guise of Rorschach. We don't condone vigilanteism under any degree and this will be treated like any other murder investigation. Captain Kuchiki is heading up this investigation, so any pertinant information should go to him. My main concern is that he may have collaborators or sympathizers interested in doing similar acts in the near future. Find out what you can about these people and whether or not another attack is immanent.

We've also got a man named Kimblee who has been making general threats against the police and the City in general, so keep an eye on him, he has been reported as being highly dangerous and volatile. No matter what, don't rise to his taunts. Professionalism, please.

That should be enough to keep everyone busy for a while.

Thanks to everyone who worried about me or came to see me in the hospital. I appreciate it. I do wonder why I didn't end up completely dead, though, if you know what I mean. Maybe because it was a curse that caused it and not some other event within the city? It seems to be the case for most people who "died" that day.

In more mundane matters, I've asked Tony Stark to take a look at our network, since I can't understand half of anything Amanda Claire wrote down before leaving, and I suspect she didn't write down half of the things in her head. Anyone heard from Broklehurst or Styles lately? I know it's their honeymoon, but it's not like them to be away from society for too long. Unless, of course, they've decided to live in bed, in which case I do not want to know.

A picnic open to the public is a bit unorthodox when it comes to recruitment, but I won't complain. I've had lots of vacation time, especially waiting for my hands to heal after those burns, and it's time to get back to work. It's a bit disappointing that Commander Vimes left the city, I think I would have liked to work with or under him. And if all else fails there's always the good old American tradition of privatization.

I'd like to say the psychopaths and terrorists have been quiet lately, but that might jinx it.

I guess I was getting more run down by this place than I thought, after that speak-your-mind curse. At least some good came of it. What on earth am I supposed to call him anyways, my boyfriend? Too juvenile. "Lover" is too tacky, "partner" is too stuffy. It's one thing for him to call me his girl, but he's no boy. What a stupid thing to get hung up over. At least it's a little less tense in the mornings. Wish it was easier to talk to him about myself, though. Wish Nicholas was around to talk to, come to that.

Joining the police force is one thing, but most of the people working there are just kids and I don't think my pride can take working for a teenager no matter what supernatural abilities they might have. Police work isn't all running around and waving a gun. There is a little thing called experience, but I guess I'll just have to show them how it's done. And some of them are soldiers for heaven's sake. Yeah, definitely going to have a lot of work to do here. Logan gets his cottage fixer-upper and I get a fledgling police department of my very own. Exciting.
